PLEXOS Solutions Announces Expansion Planning Capability

PLEXOS Solutions recently announced the release of its LT Plan (Long-Term Expansion Plan).  LT Plan is a module available in PLEXOS Version 5, which is currently being licensed by PLEXOS Solutions.

 

LT Plan has the following capabilities:

 

• Advanced Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) algorithm
• Energy efficiency, traditional and renewable generation, and transmission resources included as both expansion and retirement opportunities
• Reliability, renewable portfolio standards, and environmental constraints (such as greenhouse gas caps) can be directly modeled
• Full multi-area capability, including capacity requirements by zone
• External energy, fuel, and emission markets integrated into solution
• Least-cost plan can be optimized over 20-30 year period or longer
• Storage, limited-energy, or limited-operation units fully optimized over any period from one day to one year
• Integration with PLEXOS provides extensive scenario and stochastic analyses for risk evaluation purposes
